"What is the process of Glomerular filtration ?"
Process of Glomerular filtration:
"What is the actual process ?" Many Zoology students have the same question. So now I am going to write about this subject.
"The first step in the urine formation is the filtration of blood plasma across Semipermiable glomerular membrane i.e. called Ultrafiltration. Approx 1 lit. of blood flow occures per min through kidney at rest.
Glomerulus is a tuft of Capillaries contained in the Bowman's capsule. Each glomerulus receives blood from an afferent arteriole and discharges its blood into an efferent arteriole. The calibre of efferent arteriole is smaller than that of the afferent develops a resistance to blood flow out of the glomeruli. As a result, a glomerular hydrostatic pressure of about 70 mmHg is created in glomerulus. This pressure is opposed by blood colloidal osmotic pressure about 30 mmHg and by Capsular hydrostatic pressure of about 20mmHg inside the Bowman's capsule. Therefore, Effective(EFP) filtration pressure = 55 - (30+15) = 10mmHg.
Due to the EFP substance with low molecular weight like water, aminoacid, salts, fattyacids glucose, urea, uric acid, creatinine and toxinete. And the Substance with high molecular weight like RBC, WBC plasma protein do not leave the glomerulus as they are unable to pass through this semipermeable membrane.
The fluid that produce called glomerular filtrate."
